Well done NB..

I'm not on any particular diet, my problem was that i wasn't eating enough. i lost my appetite after having both my children and would go all day on just a sandwich, but i was never hungry. I bought the weight watchers starter books from ebay and a calculator because i am familiar with how it works (tried it many years ago). i know how many points i should have a day so i just try and eat around that number, some days i have more, others less but it ensures i'm eating enough and to moderate when i have something naughty. I pretty much got zero exercise other than running around after the little ones so ive started doing half an hour or so of a fitness dvd when they have their afternoon nap. i make sure i eat breakfast, which i never want but i know it'll help to kick-start my metabolism. So far, so good, it seems to be working. I always seem to be hungry when i'm on a diet so i'm trying to make it more of a lifestyle change, i have no willpower whatsoever and always fall off the diet wagon but now the kids are eating healthier too which spurs me on to keep it up.. :-) x

Cheers hun, was pleased with that this week. I started off on WW lost a fair bit but I found I couldnt live my life like that, as I used to eat WW microwave meals ALL the time, I just ended up putting on towards the end, thats why I came over to SW as its a way of life and the food you eat is good, and lots of it  :) WIllpower is the hardest thing, but once you get into it you find it comes natural, if the kids are eating healthier too then thats all the better and spurs you on. I dont have time to exercise as I have two jobs, so what I do is walk to and from the station (to go to work) in the mornings and evenings, 30 minutes each way, so 1 hour a day, and ive made time to swim on a wednesday night, just 20 or 30 lengths but its extra. A friend of mine at work is back on WW and she has some receipie books she got this week the latest ones, heres a receipie for Toad in the Hole (so one for all the family) 7 points per serving: Heat oven to gas mark 7/220c. mist a small ovenproof dish with low fat cooking spray and add 4 WW premium pork sausages and 1 eating apple, cut into chunks. Rost for 15 minutes, shaking the dish regulary, meanwhile put 75g plain flour into a large bowl with a pinch of salt and make a well in the centre. Mix 125ml skimmed milk with 100ml of cold water. Whisk 1 large egg beaten into the flour, followed by the milk mixture and bake for 30 minutes until just set, meanwhile heat 300ml of fresh gravy in a pan until simmering then stif in 1 tsp wholegrain mustard, divide the toad amoung two plates and serve with gravy! Hope this is something you will all like x

Well done girls, you're all doing brilliantly!   :)

I've managed to lose another 6.5 lbs since returning from Calis at the end of August, so that was the 3 lbs I put on and a bit more as well.  So I'm well pleased with that.  I've lost almost two stone altogether and only another half a stone to goal.  I feel so much better and have more confidence.  My self esteem was at an all time low earlier this year, and I knew I had to do something AND FAST!!!   :o

Like you Billeigh-Jo, I have absolutely no willpower at all.  I followed the WW diet about 9 years ago and got to goal.  I carried on going to class every week for about a year and maintained my weight (they even offered me a job with my own class!).  I then changed jobs and wasn't able to make that particular class, where I had many friends, so I stopped going.  The weight piled back on over the next few years.  I kept starting the diet (WW) many times since, but felt I knew it too well, and just couldn't stick to it as I was bored with it.  :(

I discovered Slimming World in March and it has been amazing.  There is just so much you can eat that is filling, and it really does fit in around the family - they all eat the same as me (but follow it with a pudding, which I avoid!!!   :o )  It's such a friendly class - I just love going.  We have party nights where we all take a dish of sin-free food (lovely!!!!) and we all go home completely stuffed!!!!  :D

If you're looking for a diet where you can really fill up, and no counting points, try it.  It's so easy.  I don't use any of my sins each day if I can help it (maybe a glass or two of wine!   :o ); I save them all for the weekend, so I can have a nice meal and drinks without worrying.  The only time I have had a gain was after 9 weeks off in the summer, and that was only 3 lbs.  It's definitely the best "diet" I have ever tried, and I've probably tried them all, lol !!   :)

Good luck this week - keep up the good work!  We'll all be in our "little black dresses" by Christmas!   :)

I couldnt agree more about how good the SW diet is especially since they introduced extra easy and you can have meat and potatoes/pasta together- why did it take them 40 years to come up with this concept - did they have a deal with quorn?  I have been dieting all my life since my teens and now in my 40s I am at my ideal weight and realised that I have to keep going to class even when I reached my target weight or I would put it all back on.  Lost 1 1/2 today so back down in my target range with 3 weeks still to go to half term and Turkey.  With the new system for SW on-line - you have to go to a class at least once every 4 weeks it will give me more incentive to be good on holiday as I won't have weeks to get back to my target weight on my own as I use the on-line syns section every week.

Hello all
Just found this thread very recently and wanted to say good luck to all of you and it's great how you all encourage each other and share ideas here. I found like some of you that WW was too restrictive and I was eating differently to the rest of the family.  With SW I lost 2 stone in a year and have more or less stayed on track despite all my hols to Ovacik! Every time I've put on weight after a trip away it's not taken me too long to get focused and shift it again.

Extra Easy is just so simple for me and I never buy ready diet meals now. We all eat together at home so have not really felt as though I've been on a diet.  I love the fact that the only points I have to count are for extras (wine mostly :)) whereas with WW it was points and that nothing extra once I'd used them.  105 points (syns) and I usually use most of them from Friday to Sunday, counting them down through the week from 105, rather than counting them daily. Have just weighed in again last week and am now 5lb over target (after latest two weeks in Turkey though).  My friend has become our local SW leader after getting to goal too and so I go and help her out at the group every week and hopefully that'll keep me on track now.

I've voted for you NuttyBird on the makeover website, so good luck with that too.

Bridge
x

Hey bridge welcome to our world lol, thanks for voting for me, very kind x Im glad you like this thread, and I know how much it helps me to have another a support group elsewhere through the week. Even just putting up your losses or gains helps as everyone is very kind. 5lb over target is great especially after hols. Ive set my 12 week goal thingy at SW to loose 8.5lbs by christmas, as I want my free month! lol, its a bit of a incentive also. Good luck all xx
