Saw the article in the Sun on Thursday, its a shame it was right down the bottom left hand corner, but at least they are still reporting on Tom and Misha. Keep up the good work one and all xx

Dear Dolphin Angels, it;s not a case of ' Ye of little faith', as you suggest, I simply attempted to point out the blatantly obvious fact that, as long as financial debauchery is allowed to dictate, and greed and avarice rule supreme over there, certain people in powerful positions will most definitely have their way, no matter which world-wide news agencies print the sad saga of these poor, unfortunate creatures!! I still stand by my previous assertion, CORRUPTION RULES!!!!
Take photos of 'Dolphin Swimmers' and publish on here!! Shame the Bast**ds!!!!

On March 22nd, on page 5 of this thread, I wrote that if the Mayor of Hisaronu wished for this abortion of a 'Dolphinarium' to go ahead, if would do so. Unfortunately, it seems to me that the mighty, backhand, Turkish Lira is going to prove me correct, & no matter what is being done by the various totally dedicated groups who are trying their best to bring it all to a happy conclusion, I see nothing to change my mind on this. If the appropriate licenses/permissions etc. have not been granted, how the hell else can this be allowed to go any farther?
Gordy.

Hi there. After hearing about the plight of the dolphins a few months ago I have been following the threads on this forum.  Myself & my husband registered our names on the Born Free Foundation website saying we are against this.  Just to let you know that today I emailed the Bridgette Bardot foundation asking for any advice they have & if they would be willing to back this campaign.  I will let you know if/when I get a reply.  We have been travelling to this area of Turkey for the last 10 years & were appalled to hear about the terrible conditions that Misha & Tom are being kept in.  We are back in Turkey in  September.  Can you tell me where we can get the tshirts & bags from to support this.  We will be staying in Kas but could travel to Fethiye if needs be.  I was also thinking of handing out flyers on the plane to make people aware of this.  Does anyone think this would be a good idea.  I am based in the UK but if I can help in any way from over here please let me know.

Fliers on the plane is a good idea.  Someone has done this on a TC flight.  They were fine with it after being asked.

Thanks for the response Heather.  I will get something printed out & try to pass it around on the plane.  I must admit we have been to Kas twice before & did not know about the dolphinarium there.  Would also not have known about the new one in Hisaronu only my brother read about it in The Sun newspaper.  The more awareness we can raise about this the better.

Hi Chris, yes we have joined the facebook site a few weeks ago when we first heard about this.  As soon as I get a reply from the Bridget Bardot foundation I will post the details here.  Has anyone thought about offering the bags & t-shirts for sale via ebay.  The funds could go straight to the paypal account.  I'm sure people would not mind paying extra for the cost of postage.  Alternatively maybe someone who is returning to the UK might be willing to bring some back with them & sell these on the charity's behalf.

Its not always so easy to see the wood for the trees sometimes and it can help to reflect on where we started, what's happened and where we are now.

The first anyone knew about this pool was the Hürriyet article March 11th and actually worth reading again if only to show what a load of old bull it all was.

http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=-2010-03-11

The link was originally posted by Scunner on CBF as topic "Ölüdeniz to get its first Dolphinarium"

{A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}34365

running to 21 pages and 10,000 hits before it was locked as the current topic took over.

Joanne Davis created the Free the Ölüdeniz Dolphins group on Facebook and now assisted and administered by our very own Cheers and with more than eighteen thousand members!

A very successful campaign has been waged by an ever increasing membership of these forums that have prevented any Turkish Ministry wanting to take responsibility for this situation.

Some of what has been achieved is summed in this letter printed on the Fethiye Times web site to coincide with the Protest March 2nd July.

http://www.fethiyetimes.com/news/44-news/6233-letter-column-committed-to-the-welfare-of-the-hisaroenue-two.html

More to follow, bringing us more up to date and with some new information.
