On another note - we are in Kas in September so I sent an enquiry to the car hire/transfer people we have booked casually asking if there was an opportunity to swim with dolpins.  If they had said yes I was going to cancel my booking with them.  However they came back with the response as follows
'The dolphins were moved from Kas a few months ago.  There is talk about getting more but I doubt this will happen by September.'

Has anyone else heard these rumours?  The last thing we want to happen is for them to get more dolphins in the Kas dolphinarium.

Just to let you know that we contacted many of the above by e-mail and telephone many weeks ago but no one got back to us except for HELEN WORTH who actually visited the Hell hole back in June.

Hi Spiderbob, I guessed someone would already thought of this but I think the more people who contact these aspects of media the more they may realise there is a story here that deserves to be told.  Please everyone if you can spare a few minutes to email the programmes/people above and any others you can think of please do so.  The more contact they get about this the more they will realise this is a reoccuring theme that may need looking in to.

Review and latest update part 3

Born Free and subsequent talks
The arrival in late June of Born Free staff with Patron Helen Worth to see for themselves what was going on changed the dynamics of the campaign on the ground. It was the catalyst for the idea that a solution to the situation could be found.

The idea was and is, ludicrous as this might sound is that the Dolphin Park would hand over their two Dolphins so they could be rehabilitated and released. After Born Free's meeting with the Dolphin Park owners the Dolphin Angels have continued to meet and talk with the owners and some of the other investors.

Access to information
While some may speculate about the value of this approach the talks have yielded more concrete information (and evidence) than we have yet to receive through the route using the legal system that started well before Born Frees visit or the operating license was issued, 30th June.

This included being given copies of the operating license and written documentation proving ownership of the Dolphins.

Dolphin health check by our Vet
Talking also enabled us to get the Dolphin Park owners permission to allow our Vet last week to undertake a health check on the Dolphins and take swabs from the Dolphins and water samples from the pool.

The health and well being of the Dolphins is our primary concern and test results and analysis will soon be available.

Ministry of Health - water tests
The water tests carried out on the orders of the Director General of Public Health and the subsequent Directive that forbids people from swimming in that pool has resulted in the Dolphin Park operating license being revoked and the wording is being revised to reflect this.

However while the Ministry of Health understands that the water in the pool can never be safe for both humans and Dolphins the message has not sunk in when it comes to the minions on the ground .

It is to us at least frankly unbelievable and inconceivable that a Directive is sent, signs are ordered to be put up stating the water in the pool is unfit for humans and yet there is no enforcement of this order and no sign of the signs.

And:. people are still swimming with the Dolphins in what can only be described as a cess pit.

So what the bloody hell is going on. Anarchy - that's what!  Pure and simple unadulterated anarchy:

The enforcement of the Directive is the Ministry of Health's call to make and it is frustrating for us who expected there to be some compliance at least. However there was a rather large fine handed out the other day when a complaint was made which was large enough to make quite an inroad into any takings they have had on recent days.

Teetering on the brink
Anyway, in the meantime and as a result of a most successful boycott and the email campaigns that have still to this day stopped any Ministry wanting to take responsibility for this debacle the writing is on the wall for the Dolphin Park.

The next couple of weeks are going to be an important time and we will do everything within our power to try and secure the best possible outcome for Tom and Misha.

Everything is very uncertain at the moment and we really don't know what will happen but even if it ends up out of our hands at least we know, that like you at least we tried.

This is the third and final report for the time being.

Suki
I live in Kas and the only people who have said there are rumours of new dolphins coming to Kas are people who work in Andifli Car Rental.
No-one else has I have spoken to has heard this "rumour".
They do supply cars to a woman called Heidi Pedersen, who drives people from Kas to Hisaronu to swim with the dolphins. Maybe she has told them this.
I regularly drive out to the old dolphinarium to check whether there is any activity out there.
If I see anything I will report back straight away.

Kasdolphin, thank you for your message.  I'm glad to hear the dolphinarium in Kas is no longer operating - at least at the moment.

I contacted Andifli to ask on there stance & they confirmed that they do not agree with the dolphinariums & would not arrange any trips to swim with them.  Could Andifli be added to the list of reputable car hire/transfer companies that is being complied.
