It is difficult to decide what to do - until KTHY confirm they have ceased flying (as opposed to just suspended) we cannot put a claim in for the flight cost and rebook.  We just need to know exactly where we stand to we can go forward - if we book a replacement flight (which will be more expensive) and then they decide they are carrying on we will be a lot of cash out of pocket.   Does anyone know if KTHY have advised their customers that they can apply (and get) a refund ?

I've emailed them requesting a full refund, but - surprise, surprise - I've had no reply.  [|)]

I'm also tempted to just re-book with another airline.  I need to know we're going to have a holiday in the summer.  We both work hard and look forward to our month away in our apartment.  I think we're just going to have to cut our losses.  We can't really afford to book more flights - it'll be out of our spending money for the summer, but I'd rather cut back whilst we're there than end up not going at all.  Some extra days around the pool, and making meals at the apartment, instead of eating out every night, sounds very appealing right now!   :)

We booked single flights with kthy, so, if they do manage to pull through, we can choose which flights we actually use.  We might be able to sell them nearer the time, even if it's only for a few quid each.  (Not that people will be queueing to fly with them after all this!)   :-\

Thanks Ron.  I think I'll hold fire for a couple more days.  I don't want to spend more money if I don't need to!  If there's no news from kthy by Monday, I'll re-book.  There are some really good deals with Monarch at the moment, but don't know how long they'll last.  Plus extra money off if you book by Tuesday.   :)

Thanks Ron, thats at least encouraging. Im up early trawling the net for flights, but they are now getting ridiculous and Im wondering now whether to just wait untilt he day we were due to fly and take a chance on getting any spare seats...failing that we will have to cut short the hols to just 2 or 3 weeks and get whatever the best deal is or get a last minute package deal and not use the accommodation.  If you can fly from Doncaster there are some really cheap outbounds with Aegean - £85 - but thats the cheapest deal I found at the moment, and too far for me to travel unless absolutely desperate...(which I probably am!)

Here is the info Ron talks about if anyone is having difficulty finding this:

Talks between Atlas-Jet and the debt stricken Cyprus Turkish Airlines which broke down yesterday resumed today. Speaking to the BRT on the issue, the Minister of Public Works and Communications Hamza Ersan Saner said following
a new initiative was launched by the government to solve the issue after Atlasjet announced yesterday the company was pulling out of the deal because of oppositions shown by trade unions.

Explaining that it is not possible for CTA to continue with the current situation, Mr. Saner expressed his belief that a positive outcome will be obtained from the negotiations with Atlas-Jet.

Mr. Saner also announced that talks with the Turkey's Civil Aviation Authority will be concluded starting from today.

Turkey's Civil Aviation Authority had suspended CTA's air operator certificate last Tuesday.

I'd just been reading this update, but, to be honest, can't make head nor tail of it!!  The translation is very literal, and doesn't make much sense!  (Or have I had one too many lagers whilst the footie was on!)

Sounds like talks are still underway - fingers crossed they get it all sorted.  Thanks again Ron.   :)

Karaokemark - did you ring the office back on Friday to find out about your family's flights on 3rd July?  Just wondering if it's worth trying to ring them tomorrow.  I sent an email but still no reply.   8)
