So, if someone say's "what's yours? to a friend in a bar, they'll be arrested?

Gordy.
Don't think we will bother coming back in May, they can stuff their country where the alcohol doesn't flow!!
Killing the goose that lays the golden eggs, methinks.

Gordy my friend, you will not have a problem getting a drink in Calis and other tourist/coastal area's, it's the inland non tourist places like Uzumlu and Kemer that might have a problem, by the way the new law reads ;):D

One of our enjoyments when we visit is to chill out on our balcony with a glass of wine in the evening
We do not always want to drag in to Calis for an evening meal
According to the information it could put a dampener on that if we are unable to buy alcohol in our local
supermarket !!!

When I worked in the UAE the only way to buy alcohol was either from the hotel we were staying in (at exorbitant prices)or have some one buy it for you/buy sufficient at duty free on entering the country.  UAE nationals had to apply for a license to buy alcohol which was not always given.  This allowed them to buy alcohol but only up to a % of their monthly salary, and it was a small %, at certain shops.  No license no alcohol.  Would not be surprised if this occurred here soon!

Yes Eric it sounds if things are going that way
very simular to Tunusia.
We will have to make sure we get sufficent supplies at duty free have to check out the wine allowance.
Shame though sort of takes the edge of off things

Do we get the impression that Turkey is no longer interested in joining the EU[?]  Certainly not whilst this Gov't is in power.
