Do you recline your seat or not ?

I can't understand people who have a attitude on short haul flights that reclining is a right regardless. When we fly we never recline unless the seat behind is empty as we have a baby we are astounded on the much to regular occassions how the people in the front seat will coo over her at boarding and then without notice just recline into her, as she was under 2 she had to sit on our lap so the reclining into the seat she is perched on without notice is unbelievable, needless to say we make sure they know about it and make the recliner a very embarrassed twat that they usually are. At 6.1 I know how precious space is on these planes but wouldn't recline and would prefer fixed seats to solve this issue once and for all before I have to do time when I run into the next DesMartinson!

I think you should read my post again Andrew, i was pointing out the function of seats, not to be an aggressor in anyway, in fact the aggressors seem to be the people behind who wish to inflict ABH on people, i:e whiplash etc.

I disagree desmartinson - the aggressors are people who recline their seats without (1) asking the person behind if they mind and (2) reclining without checking to see who is behind them (i.e. parent with young baby on their knee or someone who has put their table down and then finds it almost cutting them in two!)

Which is why anyone in front of me does it soon finds a sharp whack on the back of their seat!  Surprising how often the seat goes back up without a word!

The funny thing is, some say they wouldnt recline on a short haul flight but think its ok on a long haul flight.
I dont want to sit behind a recliner for any length of time, but the longer the flight, the worst it would be.
Dont recline, its not big, and its not clever

The logic that the seats CAN recline therefore you have a right to use the function doesn't wash with me.  It's a matter of consideration.  My stereo could deafen my neighbours, I don't do it though.  

You don't pay for reclining seats on charter flights.  If you get them you have a choice.  You can put your needs first, or show some consideration.  -Your choice.  And if you choose to put your needs first, you might have to deal with the consequences...
