I did  think it was a joke last night as he put the "wink" after the message.  However, after reading the other posts I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and ask about the fares.

I've booked our flights today from Leeds jet 2 and I daren't tell you the price but they're ridiculous! We are stuck with not only dates but also times this year. Anyway I will be thinking twice about next year. Looks like we have a long term let on our place so will consider giving it a swerve next year. The flight companies are killing the tourism trade and if I had to think about renting to make ends meet I wouldn't be able to sleep at night. It's not cost effective to rent and buy flights people may as well get a package at a hotel. Such a shame.

Not surprising then that Thomas Cook have announced shop closures (195) and 2,500 redundancies.  They would be better filling their planes etc. by reducing their costs to the customer.  People are NOT prepared to pay short of a thousand pounds for flights and then have to add accommodation to that.  This is just the start.  For all that people think countries using the euro are expensive.  Our trip to Benidorm for a week in January in a 4 star hotel, all inclusive, was so cheap, we couldn't believe it and the resort was NOT expensive.  Wouldn't fancy going peak season but for a winter break - amazing value.

Yes, their problems would be over if they simply sold all their holidays at a loss.

In the scheme of things flights are cheap, I wouldn't want to walk to Calis.

Our transfers were dearer than our flight home last year.

I don't know how you work out "In the Scheme of things flights are cheap"  In mine and most of the Forum member scheme the flights are expensive and getting more so.
However, I would rather pay for a flight to Calis than go to Benidorm, sorry, but that is one place I don't want to visit even off season.
