You'd need to be mad, or have too much bloody money, not to!

Hi and thank you for your replies,as  i said in my first post it it is exactly the same holiday, although a different villa its on the same complex,we made enquires about one villa and was offered another on the same complex at the same time of year for £140 cheaper,we then contacted the owners of the first villa and sent a polite email explaining the situation and received quite an abusive email back, they even said we DID NOT pay the electricity during the time we spent there last year, which i would like to point out was nearly 7 months ago (we did in fact pay the 42tl we owed on the day we left) we have been called cheap and told we will never be welcome to go there again!! The reason why i asked this question was to see what members opinions were and the reponse shows that we have done the right thing so thank you.

Hi raygans - may I ask if the two villas were identical - number of bedrooms number of en-suites and was everything else equal. Electrity air con etc included.

The location of the two properties, especially if they were on a large complex, may also have a bearing on the costs.

Perhaps one owner had reduced costs because of low bookings.

Pay for electricity???  Surely this is included in the rental price?
I'd never dream of asking anyone to pay for the electricity or anything else needed during their stay in our apartment.

May I ask what complex this is on?  I think perhaps you should be sharing the information so other guests can make and informed choice of whether or not to use the facilities of the first apartment.

It is often the case that not all villas on a complex will charge the same for rental. Thats entirely up to the owner and what they want to achieve. Electricity I believe should be included in the rental.
There is no excuse for rudeness and accusations that is no way to win repeat custom.

Although we have never had to pay for electricity I know that people who have been charged.

Perhaps it was because we booked through Holiday Lettings and in the other case it was booked privately. Don't know.

Again thank you for your replies,Highlander the villas are identical no difference whatsover and we know this as we have stayed in both of them at different times. Anne as they were private lettings the electricity was an extra charge which we paid in full at the end of each holiday as requested the complex is telmessos and we both agree with a lot of you when you say that owners can charge what they want and no theres no excuse for rudeness and abuse, in the email we were also told that we wouldnt be welcome to stay in that villa again well im sorry but if we can get the same for cheaper then surely we have the right to choose without getting grief about it. How rude some people are.

Your mistake was evidently informing the folk you would not be booking through them and why.
Had you made enquiry and not given an answer one way or the other then they could not have hit back at you.
Honesty obviously does not pay.

That's blown my theory then that TR are usually the cheapest

Your theory is almost right - my theory is that TR or sunshine.co.uk will always be the cheapest, if they offer the hotel.
