I think they had overcome the flooding problem some time ago after widening the canal and removing pinch points like the upside down bridge

Thank you Scunner, you are quite right - I'm not on Facebook (yet!) but really enjoying seeing the new developments.  Making me wish my life away (dangerous at my age too!) for May to come round again
