please come along and at least let the politicians know that we exist and have a voice
Too right .... But will this advice apply to the AKP meeting if it gets off the ground... It should.

UBT, you obviously know a lot more about Turkish politics than I do, in fact that wouldn't be difficult as I don't even know one political party from the other over here and so naively I have passed on the opinion of my Turkish friend who believes that Behcet Saatci has the overwhelming support of the people here, but we will soon see.

What I do know however is that Behcet Saatci has been a really good supporter of the charities that some of us work very hard to support, he has taken time in the past to meet us and has taken actions to show his support. His vision to make Fethiye a world class tourist destination is there for all to see. He is one of the few politicians that seem to take recycling seriously and basically, I think he's a good guy.

You seem to be really keen that the other political parties here listen to the voice of the expats, so why don't you take up the offer made by Yotgoz and organise the meeting with the other candidate. I for one would be very happy to come along and listen.

Hi  - Wont be back in Turkey until the following week after the meeting but would be interested to know if/what plans the mayor would have for Ovacik/Hisaronu if he were to win. Would improvements to the area like the changes we have seen in Fethiye including improving road infrastructure be part of the progress for the area?

I think Nichola has made some good points.  The rubbish and mess in Calis and Fethiye does, I know, cause concern to tourists.  I have read on Trip Advisor holiday makers complaining about the rubbish strewn around.
I would love to see a city dump where us property owners could take rubbish.  I would also like to see re-cycling.
Looking forward to hearing the results of this meeting.

I plan to attend the meeting.

My question is,"Should you be re-elected what projects do you have planned ,to improve Fethiye and the surrounding area for  the next five years?"

Rimms, we will be putting it on the Uzumlu Village News FB site.  Is Monday evening or morning the cut off time for numbers and questions?

I believe Bernie (slikmrs) may be attending this meeting and hope, along with markaren, we can ask what will be done to improve the road surfaces around Ovacik please?

I also offer full support to Nichola's questions - waste/fly tipping and recycling measures in the Fethiye region are a concern to many of us.

Genuinely wish I was there to attend and meet Mr Saatchi. Please reiterate George, that attendance figures may not be a true reflection of the concerns or real passion us expats have for the Fethiye area.

And thank you very much for organising this opportunity.

If you want a rough idea of the projects planned between 2014 and 2019 you can take a walk around the Democratic Party's voters headquarters which is open to anyone. It's opposite the PTT and along slightly. It has pictures of the Mayor on the windows. You can't miss it. There are plenty of sporting and open space projects as well as an acheology museum for starters...
