Try asking for Angora white, which is a tl or 2 more than the bog standard house white; that's often Kavak

The wine in the big Kipa is good we have tried a few bottles there and we found it the best.
However, if you go to Kayakoy and visit the Levissi Garden they have a huge wine cellar and they let you have a wine tasting, so you might find one you like.
The Champagne is Turkish and not good.  We brought Champagne at the Duty for when my son got married so we could use it for the toast.   Even the people at the wedding venue confirmed that the Turkish Champagne is bad.

Although fairly well known for it's poorness on here, there are some very decent Turkish wines. The problem is you have to pay to find out. A bottle of wine in a restaurant in the UK could start at £15 a bottle - and if you were prepared to pay around 50 lira you could get a nice bottle.

But after years of experience (hic) we're with liz 101 - we stick with Angora and it's fine for the price.

Villa Doluca and Kavaklidere Cankaya are very drinkable and can be bought at most supermarkets.

The grapes for Idol wines  are grown and produced in an area close to izmir. I was impressed by their vineyards and production facilities when I visited them a few years ago.
