The closures seem rather harsh - like most others, I've never felt intimidated at all.

If they cant talk to us I guess we'll end up with a load of flashing neon signs trying to attract out attention instead!

If only the authorities put so much effort into looking after the beach as they 'looking after' the prom.

We have known many of the waiters in Calis for over 7 years... Does this mean that we can't walk past and greet them now? Many are friends and they always give us a hug and and a kiss on both cheeks... We don't always eat in their places but never the less we always stop to chat to them.. Madness....

Unfortunately it might mean that not only can the puller inners not talk to us, but we cannot talk to them.  As said before, a lot of us have been going to Calis for some years and know a lot of the people in the restaurants, so it is automatic on both sides to say hello etc.

We were really upset to find out that because WE went over to talk to Hulki in the Calis Beach Indian restaurant just to say hello and a chat, he was closed for three days early in June, as the police took a photo of him and us chatting and construed it as him hassling us !

Personally we don't feel hassled in Calis and we certainly have never been hassled by Hulki.

Yes, a walk along Calis prom with nobody saying hello or being pleased to see you? Sounds like progress. In the wrong direction, again.

If you want to see hassle in operation, then go to Hisaranu!  Went up with some girl friends through the day, had one coffee, wandered about for about 30 minutes and left on the next dolmus without buying anything.  We were hassled at every turn by the shop keepers.  It was a pleasure to get back to Fethiye where we did have a bit of retail therapy.

The Zabita could have a field day there.  I know the season is short and they are trying to make a living but hassling to this degree just puts people off.  A simple "if you need any help just ask" would allow people to browse at their leisure and would result in far more sales.

We stop and chat to many of the bar staff on the prom in Calis, who we have known for years,  but do not feel hassled in any way.  It will be pretty grim if they can't even say hello to you and give the Turkish welcome.

We got back on Monday after 10 days, and if anything, the so called "hassling" was next to non-existent this year compared to previous.  Rushie even made a joke about it, and would not cross the threshold when we stopped to talk to him at Serkul.

Also, the bars are not allowed any alcohol advertising (i.e. Efes) on their parasols.  They seem to have got round this one by sticking parcel tape or marker pen over the offending words.  Just makes the prom look scruffy in my opinion.

The police are trying to stamp out a problem that doesn't exist.

But even worse, you might get them shut down by saying hello to them!!!

Absolute madness - we'll see how we get on when we come over next week but this could well be our last visit if we are restricted to restaurants and bars that we don't want to go in because the ones we do want to visit are closed. Who has decided that people are being hassled? Can't say we have ever thought that we are being hassled, a polite no thanks, maybe next time, we've just eaten, we're meeting friends at....usually suffices. Blimey if you want hassle go the Canaries - that is serious hassle!I'm a bit nervous now about speaking to people we know in case they get into trouble  :(
