...and mine John.

Anne, I really didn't want to know how hirsute your bottom is - I was only joking  :)

Any views on how current/future situation has/will affect travel insurance to Turkey. :(

No views, only facts - it doesn't affect travel insurance unless the Foreign Office issues an advisory on the destination.

All I would say is that if you let any recent events affect your decision on what you will and won't do next year then the terrorists have won. All the events whether with their direct involvement or not, tie back to their actions, and the repercussions. It's exactly what they want.

We have a week booked for the first week in June 2016 and a fortnight booked for the last week in July/first week in August 2016.  Our views, at the present time, are that unless we are specifically told not to travel then we will be there - but that may obviously change if the situation gets worse  :(

I haven't booked flights (waiting on Easyjet as we go later in the season) but as things stand will be booking and fully intend being at the Delta in 2016. My concern is that a lot can change in no time - and Russia can make things very difficult for businesses in Turkey - let's face it, one man ended the whole of Tunisia as a holiday destination in one afternoon.

Many of our dearest friends are business/hotel/restaurant owners in Turkey and I pray things stay as they are and we are there next year. We have always gone and earthquakes, Istanbul bombings, Gulf wars etc have not put us off.

But definitely a time to be concerned for the future for Turkey and our Turkish friends.

I think we need to wait and see what happens in the following months and how the situation is handled.

Domestically, things were a bit hairy in Istanbul and several other town and cities last night - a result of the murder of Tahir Elçi, the head of the Bar Association in Diyarbakır.  He was also a prominent human rights activist, so it's easy to work out who will benefit most from him being silenced.

As usual, water cannon, tear gas and extreme violence by the Polis were the order of the day.

And the EU are prepared to overlook all this, and offer Reg early talks on joining the EU in return

for help in trying to sort out the migrant crisis they created. When it suits them the EU can turn a

blind eye to human rights. The sooner we're out of it the better for me.

It's just like the Jollyboys Dayout for the Polis.

Yes Scunner, that's the awful thing, the impact on the innocent business owners and friends by the simple act of staying away. It was heartbreaking in Egypt this year to see the majority of places so deserted, with the only place with any volume of tourists being Sharm. Now that has gone. How they will ever survive I don't know and the thought of that happening to friends in Turkey is just terrible. Like you I just hope we are there next year and it will take a lot to keep me away.
