Did out online check in the other day and there were more empty seats than reserved ones. I'd be delighted if we had the row to ourselves but not if it means we have to schleppe to Manchester due to low passenger numbers. Maybe people are waiting to get to the airport to get their seats?

Just had a peep at my online check in availability for next week - from the whole of the back section of the plane, only seven seats are reserved.  I'm afraid Monarch are not getting my money to reserve a seat!  I anticipate that most people won't pay to reserve.

We never do.  Always manage to get a seat together too.
Prices are expensive enough without added costs that are not needed

We came out a week ago with Monarch from Leeds/Bradford. Didn't reserve seats due to cost but the very nice young man at check in gave us extra leg room seats for free and without having to ask for them!    :)

Nice to get free extra legroom seats. By contrast, for our flight to Italy with Thomson in July, all the extra legroom seats are already booked. To reserve 'normal' seats together for the 4 of us would be £68. They can shove that :D

We usually go for the baggage and seat option (Essentials). 22kg +10kg hand luggage and seats, bugger the cost ;-)

We go a week tomorrow at 6-15am from Leeds. No changes as yet. Fingers crossed.

We booked the essentials too and on that monarch from Leeds but June 1st Stoop. How lucky to be allocated leg room at no extra cost! However it's not worth the risk of not getting what we want so we're prepared to pay if that's what's required.
