Yes I agree, and as a relatively new venture - as I know only too well - you never find out how your staff act and perform while you are not there, until you are not there.

I am really disappointed with these recent reviews as we have been looking at the webcam most days and where really looking forward to visiting the Shaka, however, not so keen now.   It's strange, as their sister place in Olu always gets fabulous feedback.

I've lost count of the number of restaurants in the Fethiye area that have opened and have had rave revues, great food, excelent service etc. Only to seemingly loose interest a few months down the line and become either mediocre or just plain awful.
In an area where there is such a plethora of eating establishments the thing you cannot afford to do is to take you eye off the ball, or worse, become complacent...

I've not visited Shaka for some months now and after reading the comments here, I doubt I'll visit it again any time soon!!!    My own favourite eaterie closed about 3 years back and to this day I cannot fathom why it wasn't more popular.  I'm referring to Il' Fiore in Paspatur, the food and presentation were both top-notch and while not the cheapest, still presented good value.

As I said in my earlier post, we couldn't fault it throughout February. Maybe they've had a blip while the owner is away but I wouldn't let negative comments put me off going again. One mans meat is another mans poison. Why not give them the benefit of the doubt and make your own minds up? If you read back there are far more positive posts about Shaka.

Hi All,

Golden Rule of hospitality : Customer is allways right !!!

I ve been reading all comments and replies last few days and didint really want to answer as i do not want to create a polemic here, as this is a public forum and read by many people, but now i think both side of the story should be heard, then at least people who reads these positive and negative comments can decide for them selves .

Mr lance we do not have prawn cocktail on the menu nor we know what a marie rose sauce is ??? ( I wonder how often Mr Lance goes to a ala carte restaurant and makes his own menu up ??? )Our menu is mediterranean and we like to stick to what we know, hence we have a very large british clientele but we never do sunday roasts every sunday simply because it will never be the same as the real thing, i hear wine house uzumlu does it very well and i will take my family there one day, but thats beside the point ...

Mr lance sais he has run restaurants and hotels etc ... This means he should know how to do food costing in restaurants, and because he lives in Turkey he should also know how much a good piece of fillet steak costs ( for those of you that dont live here i like to inform you about meat prices in Turkey, 1 Kg of fillet steak is 50 TL and this is wholesale price, this is when you buy the whole fillet, then we need to clean the fillet and cut it in to portions and most of the time we loose another 20 % because of the size of the steaks is not 220 to 240 grams ) Finally when we end up with a decent enough steak a cost per steak is anywhere between 14 to 18 TL. I like to point out that we havent even cooked it yet !!! This is a business that needs to run and make money to survive with high rent and high costs because of its location. There are other restaurants that sell fillet steak for 32 or even 28 TL , but there is also different kinds and quality of meat so this discussion could go on for ever.

We are still sorry Mr Lance that we couldnt look after you well enough !!!

As for the miserable git who needs a plastic surgery, i have no idea who the poor sod is as i ve only just flown back from UK ...

Went to shaka wednesday sushi night ,very disappointed once again, i asked for prawn cocktail didn't have any only prawns in garlic sauce ,can i have just have prawns i only like cold prawns ,can i have Marie rose sauce ,er what is that ,i said just tomato ketchup and mayonnaise ,ok fine nice plate of prawns came up with a nice hot Marie rose sauce,i said to waiter what part of cold did you  not understand Derr,  had a fillet steak 39tl not much bigger than a beef burger steak OK ,they had my  favorite sweet, carrot cake that came out hard on the edges where it was in the microwave heating up,i'm sorry but i have never had hot carrot cake ,the bill  for 4 of us 255tl not anymore for me and as for the English guy who works in there i think plastic surgery is the only way to put a smile on his face miserable git ,looked more like a bouncer hope he wasn't the owner . :'(

Hi Barry,

Once again we would like to tell both sides of the story, so its fair on everyone involved ...
The food Mr Barry had was strips of beef in white sauce with rice and vegetables called hardalli et, our meat is portioned every morning depending on the dish, hardalli et is 180 grams not 3 tiny pieces of meat .
When Mr Barry complained about the dish Yildiray the floor manager didint laugh at him, anybody who knows Yildiray( if any of you reading this forum knows him ) will also know he is the friendliest guy ever, he simply offered to change it and possibly put more meat in the dish ( he is not suppose to do that by the way :) just to make things better ... Barry said no he didint want it, Yildiray also offered him a drink but he once again refused (Yildiray will go out of his way to make things right for anyone that is not happy )
Mr Barry is right about the fajita rolls , I ve looked in to the matter and been told it was overcooked, but was replaced with new ones . At 19.45 we had 48 covers not 20, and also we didint take Mr Barry s money nor gave him the bill , he actually left 50 TL on the table and left. It is a little sad when a small problem becomes a big one for some  reason, and here once again its our  mistake . I see other people on this forum that has never been here and say that they were looking forward to coming in but now they are not sure anymore, forget about the money side of things i really do feel sad when we get comments like this , where people read something on a forum and suddenly this place is the worst place to go to, I am not talking about just Shaka but all the other restaurants bars cafe s that are in the same boat ... I think everybody has all the right to write about their good and bed experiences of an establishment, Buzz Bar has been running for 24 years now and we still get little complaints here and their, but i do not think any bar, restaurant cafe should be judged by one or two reviews but still the golden rule is Customer is always right !!!

I went Shaka Wednesday night as well.
I thought the food was Terrible.
Portions so small it was pitiful.. My dish was suppose to be meat with mushrooms in white sauce.
I got 3 tiny pieces of meat and some mushrooms hard boiled rice and 3 small florets of Brocolli.
I sent the food back.
My friend had Fijjitas. 2 roled pancakes that could not be unfurled.. Replaced them and they were the same.
I didn't wanted to spoil my other friends night out, so I gave them some money towards the bill
And walked..
Get a grip Shaka.
