A lot of work has been done at it looks impressive. Should be a nice walk along the bank when it is finished.

The concrete base will make a good race track for the boy racers.

Let's hope that the Belediye will clean the area when next summer ends and before the rains come otherwise the river will become the biggest self-cleaning rubbish dump in the country.

J13,

and your problem is????

OK I do understand your frustration, had this while we were here in Tuzla last July. But it got sorted as it inevitebly does in "Turkish time".

Can't odds it matey we either have to go with the "Turkish" flow or jump ship. This I ain't about to do when I get back.

I am not sure that I understand the relevance of where I live. I thought that this forum was open to non- residents and residents alike.

The reason I asked if you lived here Apollo was simply to find out if you knew how the canal system works in summer and winter with reference to water levels. the bit I could,nt work out was your boy racers comment, do you mean they will be racing up and down the new system in speedboats.  :) no offence meant to you otherwise as a CBF member.

With  the acres of concrete which are being laid as a base. Could we and our mates have resisted this track which currently runs from Karaculha (spelling) to Catarlik. Any day now onto Günlükbaşı.

Thus the boy racers quote.

There have been rumours that this will be allowed to be flooded and used for boats. I will not be holding my breath!

As far as a self cleaning rubbish goes. The next stop for this string is either the reeds in Çalış or a beach in Fethiye bay.

I have seen a similar ,but much smaller, scheme to the canal works here. That was in Silifke. The amount of rubbish which appeared on the beach after the first heavy rains was incredible.
