I have been in the Greek islands for the last 2 months, alcohol is either comparable or cheaper (large beer 2.5 euros, wine 8 euros / liter), meat, much cheaper, fruit & veg more expensive. A giros pitta will cost you about 2.20 euros, a main meal in a restaurant about 8 euros. Diesel, 1.20 euros / liter.
Its worth checking the size of the beer BEFORE you order..

Thanks everyone for inputs - yes I should have called it a hydrofoil rather than a ferry. Look forward to following up the suggestions and maybe post a picture or two.

It's still a ferry.  ;)

ferry: a boat or ship for conveying passengers and goods, especially over a relatively short distance and as a regular service.

I hadn't thought of going to Rhodes for the day, but sounds like a good day out and something different to do this coming holiday, does the hydrofoil run all year and how long is the crossing?

I made the point about it being hydrofoils doing the crossing as the 'ferry' did run last year and I know some people who do not like travelling on the hydrofoil. So perhaps I should have said, the more conventional ferry is not running this year, hydrofoils are running.........

We have been a few times and also stayed over at the fabulous Nikos and Takis Boutique Hotel in the old town.

How far is the hotel from the ferry terminal Jacqui ?
